As a regional strategy, Windsor City Council and the County of Essex Council approved the creation of a comprehensive 9-point plan called Pathway to Potential (P2P). The P2P plan is intended to focus on essential social investments in residents, neighbourhoods and the larger community. The plan builds on existing and new resources and supports initiatives led by the City of Windsor, County of Essex and community partners with a goal to make a difference in the lives of all residents.

Through this roadmap, P2P provides funding for programming to agencies across Windsor-Essex that support vulnerable youth and families; works with municipal departments to remove accessibility and financial barriers; and collaborates with community leaders toward a shared vision of community prosperity.

P2P Strategy Renewal

Earlier this year, Pathway to Potential (P2P) retained the consultant StrategyCorp to assist with renewing P2P’s poverty reduction strategy (the 9-Point Social Investment Plan) and align it with the vision of P2P for the next four years. In the initial phase, insights were gathered from service providers and Windsor-Essex residents to understand the challenges and barriers faced by those affected by poverty.

Residents of Windsor and Essex County had the opportunity to provide input on the area’s poverty reduction strategy by participating in public meetings either in person or virtually. The purpose of the consultation was to gather input from city and county residents on their priorities and concerns as Pathway to Potential (P2P) works to ensure the strategy aligns with current and future community needs.

Two sessions were held in November:

  • The Windsor P2P Strategy Renewal Feedback Session was held on Monday, November 27, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Mackenzie Hall, 3277 Sandwich Street West, Windsor.
  • The County P2P Strategy Renewal Feedback Session was held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Essex Centre Sports Complex, 60 Fairview Avenue West, Essex.
